Seven Daughters 2014 Rich Red Winemaker's Blend

First things first. (No Imagine Dragons reference here). Although, that song actually really does apply here... "First things first I'ma say all the words inside my head..." I just talk and talk on this here blog about all the things that pop into my head, so there's that. At least I didn't get "Sex on Fire" stuck in your head. See, now that would have been terrible. Oops. Sorry not sorry? Ok. I'll calm the music references.

Anyway. My hopes weren't high when I poured a glass.

"Woah that's smelling pretty fruity over there."

Yeah, it was just like surprisingly strong-smelling. Not bad. Well, not terribly scary since I've had super fruity smelling wine taste surprisingly not fruity before.

"Definitely tastes fruity, but not too sweet and also not garbagey."

Like I said...I had low expectations. So I was pleasantly surprised by the plummy-berry fruit flavor that picked up with a little spice halfway through. I waited for the metallic bite to hit like so many cheaper reds, but nothing to report. It just kinda...ended. In a nice way.

For a super cheap red blend, this is pretty good! (And I would hands down recommend this over that Menage a Trois crap, seriously don't buy that.)

What the bottle says: "Intense aromas of blackberry and lavender, exuberant fruit flavors with a bit of peppery spice for a memorable finish."

What The Wine Girl says: Umm sure why not. I noticed the fruit and the spice, but where was the lavender? I missed it I guess? Or maybe I left it in my Lush bath bomb?

What I Paid: $7.99 (hallelujah)

ABV: 13.5%

Who's responsible for this? Seven Daughters, California

Do I need a corkscrew? Nope.

What do smarter people say about it? Wine Enthusiast gave it 88 points and says "Very ripe and fruity and ultra smooth in texture, this wine is a treat to drink and a very good value. A touch of sweetness adds to the supple mouthfeel and helps carry the boysenberry and blueberry notes through the finish." I agree. For real.

Should I bring it to a friend's house? Sure thing! I bought this for girls night and it worked out great.
